The whole point of communication is communicating. Sharing thoughts, connecting. There is another side to it too. Say the right things and you can have an emotional effect on someone, for good or for bad.

This is not an excercise in throwing eggs into someone's mouth. What you have to do is pass the egg into their hand, whereupon they will catch it and be able to eat it themselves. Hm. Not sure why I'm using this metaphor.. I had a small lunch today.

The point of this bewildering allegory is that there is two parts to communication. If you're throwing and catching, when you miss you don't blame the person for throwing it badly; it's both of your faults, for throwing it badly and for catching it badly.

If someone says something ungrammatically, and, though you get the idea, you correct them, you are not solving anything. This is deliberately not understanding.

The next time you don't quite get what someone says to you, don't immediately jump at the opportunity for showing off your linguistic superiority by putting the other down, why not stop, think, and earnestly attempt to understand first? You'd be surprised.

I don't care too much for grammar... grammar can't buy me love.

Oh yeah, and another thing. Swearwords. Really, who cares? It's only a big deal if you make it one. Swearwords are a legitimate form of communicating displeasure as well as venting it, and while I'm sure it is better not to use them too much (because you'll be sending out a bit of a bad vibe) you cannot change the way you feel by saying it differently. Just like Political Correctness doesn't stop you being racist.
